I am robbed constantly by apps

I’m an iPhone dedicated user but my problem isn’t about tech I have been disabled for around 6 years the cartilage in my body is basically evaporating my hands don’t work as they should anymore the none reversible arthritis has no treatment as of yet except removing bone to make space for all the things that used to be protected by the cartilage a procedure that doesn’t work and is not even recommended by the doctors who perform it. So why am I telling you this because not qualified is a regular occurrence for me and I think there should be a change in the way these subscriptions work. I am a consistent double tapping old and forget yesterday sometimes being robbed constantly by apps who intentionally make confusing and deceptive ploys to get you paying for their subscriptions weather you want or need it and could care less about your limited income and capacity to remember to turn it off. This should be illegal and I’ll be writing my local and political party next this is a tragedy every time it happens to me no I can’t afford 1.99 or.01 I’m struggling to stay in the place I live and blasted daily with “open now extremely urgent “ when you blank out a day or two now and then maybe it is urgent and there’s another subscription bouncing charges trying to take money I don’t have and sometimes I put money in for something else and pow they nab it up if felonious should be a crime we should all be outraged by these practices and know how much they have scammed us for because it’s intentional and it’s about time we do something about it

It may be helpful to change your settings so that you need to authorise all purchases from Apple yourself. See how to: Require a password for purchases in the App Store and other Apple services - Apple Support


"Require a password for purchases in the App Store and other Apple services

You can require a password for every purchase or require a password every 15 minutes.

You can choose how often you want to enter your password when you buy items (including in-app purchases) from the App Store and other Apple services:

  • Always Require — Every time you make a purchase, you’ll be asked to enter your password, even if you’re signed in to your Apple Account.
  • Require After 15 Minutes — If you entered your password within the last 15 minutes, you won’t be asked to enter your password again.


If you don’t want to enter a password when you download free items, follow the steps below and turn off password protection for free items."


Require a password on your iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap [your name].
  3. Tap Media & Purchases.

If you are constantly forgetting to cancel a free trial or subscription before renewal, I would recommend setting a reminder at least a day before the subscription date. It is as easy as saying "Hey Siri, remind me on xx/xx/xx to review my subscription in case I want to cancel".


Problem solved! And I would recommend that for anyone as we can all forget to do things from time to time. To start a free trial/subscription, it requires you to double click the side button with the amount showing on the screen, so that is the time to set that reminder. The double click of the side button is reserved for purchases, so there is no other use for that action. As brbo said, you can also require a password for purchases, which would be another step you would need to do before a purchase or starting a free trial.

I do this for every trial subscription. I spent far more money than I care to admit on forgotten subscriptions.

Absolutely I am taking the higher path and empowering one or more of my chatbot inventory or get the office AI I already need for my business to to cancel all free trial subscriptions before the free trial ends if I want an app I already know all about it and just get the subscription you still get the free trial even if you purchase your pay period starts at the end of the trial period
