Texts Not Showing Up

My new MacBook Air with Tahoe 26.6.1 screens out some texts that show up on my phone. They are always from numbers that are not in my Contacts, but are important. They always showed up on my old MacBook pro. Is there a setting I need to change?

First, make sure that your Mac is signed into the same Apple Account as the other devices. Confirm that in System Settings > Apple Account (at the top of the sidebar). If you are signed in, iMessages (blue bubbles) come directly to your Mac. Also confirm in Messages > Messages menu > Settings > iMessage tab:

SMS messages (green bubbles) need to be forwarded from your phone.

On your iPhone go to Settings > Apps > Messages > Text Message Forwarding, and make sure your new Mac is selected as a destination:

On your MacBook Air, open Messages >> Filter >> Manage Filtering and check Screen unknown senders.

If it is enabled, turn it off. Apple says messages from unknown senders are otherwise filtered into a separate folder and you may not receive notifications for them.

You should also check Messages >> Filter >> Unknown Senders.

Messages from numbers that are not in your Contacts can appear there; you can select an important sender and choose Mark as Known.

Also check Messages >> Filter >> Spam.

Apple says messages identified as spam are moved there and removed from the normal conversation list.

If a legitimate message is there, select it and choose Not Spam. You can also turn off Filter spam under Manage Filtering.

Apple specifically identifies screening unknown senders as a new Messages feature in macOS Tahoe, so this is the first setting I would check on your new Mac.
