You can replace your fifteen (!) year old computer with a newer one.

This assumes that 10.13.6 is the latest OS that your Mac can run, which means it's a 2011 model MBP and it's high time you considered upgrading from that obsolete hardware.

Without more details we can only guess.

Please go to Apple menu  > About This Mac and tell us exactly which Mac you have.

If your Mac is new enough – 2017 or 2018? – you could potentially be running even macOS Ventura or Sequoia.

You have not told us which particular MacBook Pro you have – or its configuration (amount of RAM, amount of built-in storage, mechanical hard drive vs. SSD).

I'm not sure that matters. If your MacBook Pro is so old that High Sierra is the "end of the line", that implies that it is one of the models that Apple released between Mid 2010 and Late 2011.

High Sierra is eight major versions behind Tahoe, the current version of macOS, and it's nearly impossible to get any modern software for it. Even developers who have a history of supporting older versions of macOS have moved on. You could install Firefox 115 ESR (an older version that has received many "stays of execution" and is still, by some miracle, receiving security patches from Mozilla). Or an old, archived, unsupported version of LibreOffice.

And today's MacBook Pros – even the ones with plain M5 chips – are much faster than any of those old 2011 – 2011 MacBook Pros. If you are using some MBP that was initially released almost 15 – 16 years ago, it might just be time to replace it with a new one.
