"Home drive" has no meaning that I am aware of.
Perhaps 'boot drive' or 'startup disk'?

Edit - Whatever your intent, make sure you backup your stuff before you try to go there.

Have a back-up going with an old WD My Drive, just erased and formatted to APFS. :-) Thanks for the reply.
I boot my M2 and M4 minis from 1 TB and 2 TB NVMes respectively but I wouldn't advise doing it with an old WD spinner.
Fine to use it for storing your photos, videos and other large files or folders.
