Keynote presenter mode with notes jumps to first slide after a few minutes.

I have a MacBook Air M1 chip, system Tahoe 26.5.2

Using Keynote in the presenter mode where the presenter notes in one window and an extended screen shows the slides the program. after just a few few minutes it jumps back to the first slide, no matter where I am in the presentation, It jumps back to the first slide.

Very inconvenient.

how do I stop the program from jumping back to the first slide?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 26.5

I restarted the program and the Mac without solving the problem. The solution was to copy the contents of the file, paste it into a new file and delete the old file. Problem solved. corrupted file.

This sounds like the restart option. Check the Inspector -> Document:

I still doubt this is a 'corrupted file'...

Did you check/verify the Restart Show setting as per my previous post?

Copying the content into a new file might appear to solve the problem, because the default for any new presentation is NOT to repeat, so any new document would have that off by default.

It's not a menu, it's in the inspector - the same right-hand panel where you do pretty much everything in Keynote - setting transitions, control fonts, colors, etc.

Well, that seems to be what the problem was. All three check boxes were checked and the timer was set to restart at 1 minute. How they all got checked I do not know. Thank you.
