Alarm doesn't work if iPhone or iPad is off? My Xiaomi does it simply....

If you fully shut-down your iPad or iPhone, you will stop all processes from running - in exactly the same way that a desktop/laptop computer will behave if similarly shut-down. If shut-down, as you presumably indicate, no alarms or notifications will be heard from the device.

Instead of shutting-down your Apple devices, simply click the top/side button to turn-off the display. In this condition, the device is operating in its "standby" - during which background processes (such as alarms, notifications and other housekeeping tasks) continue to run - consuming very little power.

Except you apparently do need it. iPhones do not emit any ionizing radiation. Your option is to buy a standalone alarm clock. But make sure it's one that winds up as the electric ones do emit non-ionizing radiation (so does your 'fridge, by the way). It's also harmless.

Yes, however, if alarms work that button does not REALLY power off the phone. Essentially it is a lie. Because the alarm app needs power to operate. If the phone is off where does that power come from?

That means it is not shut off. When you turn off ANY electronic device completely it is truly off. There is no current flowing into it. It can’t do anything.

NO device can sound an alarm if it is actually OFF. If it is off there is no power for the alarm. OFF means OFF; if there is no power available how can it sound an alarm? The best I can think of is those devices are not really off when you turn them off.

Thus, those devices must still be on when they say they are off, and since they are Chinese they are probably spying on you when they are “off”.

Not true for iPhones. When "Turned off" they keep bluetooth running and who knows what else. If Bluetooth is running then there's a clock running. If there's a clock running then there's no good reason for the alarm not to work too.

Feel free to choose the device that best meets your needs and preferences - be that Apple or one of the many dozens of available Android clones. We're all different, and have differing priorities and needs.

It is perhaps worthwhile to point-out that a device that you have chosen to shut-down overnight, regardless of whether or not its alarm-clock functions continue to operate, has no opportunity to alert you to an emergency or other situation (such as fire, flood, earthquake, tsunami) - this type of alert usually communicated by the relevant authorities via cellular networks. This feature saves lives - and is inhibited by shutting down your device.

You are amongst tens of millions of users worldwide. As an individual no manufacturer is even going to notice you change of allegiance. In the meantime, enjoy your Xiaomi.
