I’d treat the two problems separately.

For the Wi-Fi update error, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. If the iOS update is listed there, delete that update and download it again. Apple recommends trying another Wi-Fi network as well.

For the Mac connection, connect the iPhone directly to the Mac with a known-good USB cable, not through a hub, and make sure the iPhone is unlocked. If prompted, tap Trust.

If the Mac still doesn’t recognize it and the update still can’t be verified over Wi-Fi, I’d contact Apple Support rather than restore the iPhone. A restore erases the device, so make sure you have a current backup before considering that.

Hello,

From AI:

AI Overview

To fix an "Unable to Verify Update" error on your iPhone, delete the downloaded update file from your storage and download it again over a stable Wi-Fi network. Apple Community +1

Common Fixes

  • Delete and Re-download the Update: Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage, find the iOS update file in the list, tap it, and select Delete Update. Then go back to Software Update to download a fresh copy. Apple Support

  • Check Your Internet Connection: Ensure you are on a stable Wi-Fi network and not using a personal hotspot or a slow connection. Apple Community +1

  • Turn Off VPN: If you use a VPN, disable or remove it under Settings > General > VPN & Device Management, as it can block communication with Apple's servers.

  • Check Available Storage: Make sure you have at least 10 GB of free space on your device to successfully unpack and install the software. Apple Community +1

  • Force Restart Your Device: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the side power button until the Apple logo appears. Apple Community +1

  • Reset Network Settings: Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings to clear out glitchy Wi-Fi configurations.

Good luck.
