MacBook Air starts with colorful vertical lines and is inaccessible

For your MacBook Air 13″ running macOS 15.5, first hold the power/Touch ID button for up to 10 seconds to turn the Mac off, wait a few seconds, and then turn it on again. 


Apple recommends this when a Mac does not start up normally. Apple: If your Mac doesn't start up all the way


If the colourful vertical lines remain, disconnect all nonessential accessories such as USB devices, hubs, drives, and external displays, then start the Mac again. Apple: If your Mac starts up to an Apple logo or progress bar


If your Mac has Apple silicon, hold the power button while starting until the startup options screen appears. 


From there you can try Safe Mode or press Command-D to run Apple Diagnostics. 


On an Intel Mac, Apple Diagnostics is started by holding D immediately after turning it on


Apple: Mac startup key combinations Apple: Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac


If Apple Diagnostics displays a reference code, keep that code for further troubleshooting or service. 


If the Mac cannot reach startup options or Diagnostics and the vertical lines continue to prevent access, Apple recommends obtaining service when startup problems persist. Apple: Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac


Have the computer evaluated by the Professionals who have the Special Hardware Software and Expertise to diagnose the issue and offer possible solutions


Make an Appointment at the Apple Genius Bar or call 1 800 MyApple and have them evaluate the computer
