Why does Apple's Airpod pro replacement plan set conditions that customers cannot meet?
I knew that reaching out to applecare was likely to cause more frustration than it resolved, but I got irritated enough to try anyway (every 3-7 days airpods would just refuse to connect to my phone until I restarted the phone). They never told me once I was getting new pods and a case. The pods came, I sent the old ones back. Thought I was done. Then about 9 days later, oh here is a case too. Did not provide any instructions or QR for how to pare just a case; had to call again. But then it got even worse. Went to take the case to fedex only to learn they couldn't take it; I had to go to a special FedEx Express. Of course they were not open on the weekend so great, I get to lose work time on this too. I went to the second one, only to learn that they also could not take it and that I needed to go to a third FedEx Ground. When I got there and through the security gate that did not at all seem like it was for customers I was finally able to send it back.
Oh what's this email? Wonderful! it's a notice from apple telling me I have 4 days to get them the originals back before they charge me. Oh and the first shipment, the airpods, fedex misrouted them. Instead of OR to CA, it went OR to NJ. So now, despite jumping through endless hoops and driving to all of the fedex's in my zipcode, I still through no fault whatsoever of my own, will not get them these replacements back in time.
Does apple just really hate their customers this much? Why do they insist on a replacement policy that causes this much stress? Where I have no means whatsoever to get them the parts in the time frame they demanded? I feel like I am being stolen from and all it cost me was $69.99 for this useless applecare.
