I want to learn what not charging means even though it’s plugged in in a charger.

It might mean any number of things.

The charger might be defective

The cable might be defective

Unlikely, but possible.....both the charger and cable are defective

There may be dust and or lint in the charging port on your iPhone

The charging port on the iPhone is defective

There may be another hardware problem with your phone

First, clean out the charging port on your iPhone using a wooden or plastic toothpick and a small flashlight. It might take 5 minutes to get the lint out. Don't use compressed air.

Any luck? If not, then you will need to try a different charger and / or different cable.

If another charger and cable won't fix things, then you have a hardware issue on your iPhone that will need attention at the Apple Store / Genius Bar or an authorized Apple service shop.

Welcome and thank you for reaching out. 🤗

If your iPhone won’t charge, then

there appears to be a problem with the internal charging system. Only a certified Apple technician can determine the cause and offer a complete solution.

Therefore, I recommend service.
