Intell based Pages Upgrade Questions
Haven't upgraded Pages in eons after problems following an upgrade failing to read previous documents years ago. Now have received notice that Intell based Pages will not work in future IOS upgrades. If I now upgrade Pages 8.1
6369 on my 2024 IMac with Tahoe 266.2 what sort of problems am I likely to face and how can I avoid them?

Your 2024 iMac is an Apple silicon Mac, so the warning is about the old Intel version of Pages you’re still running, not about the iMac itself. Apple says Intel-only apps will eventually lose normal Rosetta support.
Before updating Pages 8.1, I’d make a current Time Machine backup and keep copies of any especially important Pages documents. Then update Pages through the Mac App Store.
The reassuring part is that Apple says the current Pages can open documents from all Pages versions. I still wouldn’t open and resave your only copy of an important old document until you’ve confirmed it looks correct in the newer Pages.
Also, I think you mean macOS Tahoe 26.6 rather than iOS. Your 2024 iMac is supported by Tahoe.

Pages v8.1 was the last version available for macOS High Sierra (10.13.6). I am surprised that it still works on Tahoe, even with Rosetta 2. The latter will not be available with the release of macOS 28 in Fall 2027.
You should be using the current (e.g. 15.3.1) version of Pages on Tahoe with your 2024 Mac. It will open all prior Pages documents, provided they are undamaged as far back as Pages '05. What it won't do is seemlessy migrate auto-correction text replacements that you may have established in Pages v8.1 preferences, or any custom templates that you may have created that are located in Pages v8.1 My Templates. This is because they are entirely different applications now.
When you install the current version of Pages from the Mac App Store, it will install a separate application from your existing Pages v8.1, and with its own Settings. You should drag and drop that new Pages application icon to your Dock, as any existing one remains pointing to Pages v8.1. The icon will be visibly different.
How can I avoid problems trying to upgrade Intell based Pages to work with upcoming IOS changes?
