iPod Classic screen frozen on Apple logo

Using my iPod Classic (I think it's a 2009) this morning, the screen froze. My music continued playing and I could still navigate, pause, skip, etc, only the screen was stuck. I tried resetting the iPod but with no luck - the screen remains stuck on the Apple screen. I can still hear the click wheel "behind it" as it were and I can still blindly navigate to music. I put it in disk mode and while it did go in disk mode, I couldn't do anything. I've tried letting the battery die and then plugging it into my laptop, it connects to the laptop but the screen remains on the Apple screen. I've tried restoring the iPod twice, but still the issue continues. Please help, I don't know what else to try and can't seem to find anything online about this specific issue.
