I’d check the Apple Pencil settings first. Go to Settings > Apple Pencil and make sure Squeeze is enabled and assigned to an action.

Also, the Pencil Pro doesn’t make a physical clicking sound when you squeeze it. It uses haptic feedback, so you should feel a small tap instead.

If it’s connected but still won’t write or respond to squeeze, attach it magnetically to the iPad for a minute, then restart the iPad and test again.

Thanks for trying that. Since it’s still not working, I’d check whether the Pencil can write at all in Apple Notes. Also make sure the tip is screwed on snugly.

If it won’t write there either, go to Settings > Bluetooth, tap the info button next to Apple Pencil Pro, choose Forget This Device, then attach the Pencil to the magnetic side of the iPad again to pair it.

If it still won’t write or respond to squeeze after that, I’d suspect a problem with the Pencil itself rather than a setting.

Inconsistent drawing will either be due to a problem with the Pencil itself, or its interaction with the iPad screen.

Ensure that the user-replaceable Pencil tip is snugly screwed into the body of the Apple Pencil; when fitted correctly you should see a tiny gap, of about the thickness of a sheet of paper, between the tip and pencil body. If slightly loosened, or overtightened, the Pencil may not work properly, if at all.

A potential source of failure is the transducer element (that sits immediately under the replaceable tip) - which may have suffered damage from an impact (such as being dropped onto its tip), or application of excessive lateral pressure.

If the metal transducer element is intact, you can try replacing the tip - ensuring that the replacement is screwed snugly into position. If replacing the pencil tip does not resolve this issue, or the tip is not correctly positioned in relation to the pencil body when fitted, then your Pencil may have suffered irreparable damage.
