Is 88% iPhone 16 battery health normal after two years?
My iPhone 16 is at 88% battery heath after two years used, is that normal?
I followed the charging guidelines 20-80% so I don’t always charge my phone to 100%. But I often used my phone until it’s very low battery. Is that not a good practice?
Months and years are not really that important in judging the performance of a battery. Charge Cycles are important.
"Normal" battery performance would be a 1% decline in Battery Health for every 50 Charge Cycles. A heavy user will go through 50 Charge Cycles much faster than a lighter user. So, the battery will not last as long with a heavy user as a light user.
So, if your battery is at 88% at this time, it should have completed 600 Charge Cycles.
So, how many Charge Cycles has your battery completed when you check the battery settings?

I am impressed that you managed to reach 88% in 2 years. That is about average for a device that is in use every single day since purchase. In fact, you are definitely getting your money’s worth.

There are allot of steps and various machines that are used to construct a battery.
Between those assembly steps, the batteries are carefully inspected along the way, often in devices used to magnify the various components several times during the production process.
There are various tests to ensure that there are no leaks.

I can assure you that the failure rate is extremely low.
What you have experienced is normal and expected.
All rechargeable batteries are consumable components that become less effective as they chemically age.
Recent software updates can accelerate that process by adding features that consume more power.
As lithium-ion batteries chemically age, the amount of charge they can hold diminishes, resulting in shorter amounts of time before a device needs to be recharged.

Apple won’t replace the battery until it reaches 80% capacity.
The age of the iPhone is not that relevant. A phone could be 18 months old with only 150 Charge Cycles, or it could be 18 months old with 400 Charge cycles. The batteries in the two phones would be completely different as far as health, even though the two phones were the same age.
You did not tell us what model of iPhone that you have, but we'll take a chance and guess that it might be an iPhone 15 or iPhone 16.
Under good conditions, the Battery Health will decline an average of about 1% for every 50 Charge Cycles. So 335 Charge Cycles divided by 50 = 6.7%. Call it 7% to keep things simple.
100% minus 7% = 93%, which is where your Battery Health would be under good conditions. At 88% Battery Health, your battery is declining a bit faster than "normal", so you will likely be looking at a battery replacement in about a year or so.
Replace the battery when the Battery Health dips below 80%.
