Full page screenshot option not capturing entire page

I use the ‘full page’ option a lot when taking screenshots, but sometimes, it is unable to take the entire page. Is there a way around that?

I'm with John Galt here - there's likely something specific about the web site(s) in question. If they're using dynamic loading, then the screenshot may not be able to capture the full page, it can only capture a specific point in time.

It would help to know if you're experiencing the same problem on all web sites, or only specific one(s).

If just a particular site (or sites), posting the URL would also let others test, and maybe see something else peculiar with that site.

If it's all pages on all sites then something deeper may be amiss, but I can't think what, yet.

Thanks, that's very helpful. I can confirm there is a limit, and you found it.

I loaded that entire web page and confirmed all elements finished loading by scrolling to the end. Then, I disabled all network services and confirmed everything was still present. Then, I captured the "full page" as you described, but it resulted in capturing slightly less than yours — perhaps one page less.

The fact there is a difference is interesting, but it could be explained by differences in the "related post" content toward the bottom of that page, which are likely to be different for our two devices.

In any event I doubt there is anything we can do about it, and I agree it would be nice if Apple were to explain it better. All we have to work with are the Support documents you already know about, and they are insufficiently precise in their wording. Yes we can take a screenshot of "an entire webpage in Safari" but apparently we can't take a full page screenshot of any such webpage.

If I had to guess the limitation is insufficient hardware resources, presumably RAM, or the amount of it iOS allocates to Safari.

If you are so motivated tell Apple: Feedback - Safari - Apple

I am not aware of any limitation, so all I could do is speculate on the possible cause it does not work for you in certain cases. Given your example it would appear the page might not load completely to begin with. Some cleverly crafted websites implement Javascript code that causes additional content to load as you scroll, creating what appears to be an infinitely long page. Obviously it won't work for websites like that.

I tested Apple's instructions for a few websites chosen more or less at random... pages on this site as well as others. The longest page I was able to find (not one of those "cleverly crafted" examples) was 42 pages in length and the instructions worked as exactly as written.

There probably is a limit; I just don't know what it might be.
