I've been contacted by allegedly John Ternus and his assistant Beverly. Originally via FaceBook Messenger and now via Telegram. I suspect it's a scam. The John Ternus account was removed from Messenger. So doubly suspicious. I imagine if I was to call Apple support, they would not confirm or deny anything. What do you think, Apple community?

Outside of the moderators, there are no Apple employees here, this is a user to user forum, where users volunteer to help other users and no one from Apple will answer directly.
That is almost certainly a scam. Unless you know Ternus personally I highly doubt he or his staff will be randomly contacting people over Facebook Messenger for any reason whatsoever.

I think if you did not make the initial contact it is a scam.
If you are seeking help from Apple use the "Support" link located at the bottom left of this page. Do not respond to uninitiated contacts regardless of method and who they state they are..
Think about it logically. I suspect Mr. Ternus is rather busy right now and is probably not reaching out to non-employees with whom he has no previous relationship. And does it make sense that he would be doing it over Facebook Messenger? Or, even more surprisingly, Telegram? I mean no disrespect to Telegram, but it is known to be used by scammers.
Whoever is trying to scam you is hoping that you would be sufficiently flattered by the idea that he would contact you that you would let your guard down. Good job not falling for it.
