My iPhone show iOS 26.7 under 'Upgrade to iOS 27'

What you are experiencing is totally normal. Apple launched all of iOS, macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, visionOS, etc 27 today, alongside 26.7, so what you are seeing is normal, and I saw the same thing. you don't need to update to 26.7 then 27, you can upgrade straight to 27. Enjoy the new OS!

It is a typo, guys. I had the same experience and when I clicked on that 26.7 install button under "Updated to iOS 27", it completes the actual iOS 27 for real. So for those who already installed 26.7, go ahead and click it again under IOS 27 option, installation successfully within 20 minutes here. Now time to enjoy the new OS.

Came here to say this. Went through with the “26.7” install, and it is indeed iOS 27.

Have you force restarted the phone since you updated? That can make a huge difference.

Also, it takes 24-48 hours, sometimes longer, for the phone to complete all the background task required after a major update. You can see if the Optimizing Search and Siri is still going on by going to Settings. You'll see a notice at the top of the screen just below your name if it is.

Delete any existing iOS update download (Settings > General > iPhone Storage), force a restart, and check again.

Same here. I believe iOS 27 is not live yet for downloading. May be a glitch or something. Just wait until we see an actual iOS 27 as a label. Anything from iPhone 11 or above is eligible for iOS 27. You may get different AI capabilities or features according to model but you can upgrade to the iOS 27 if you have 11 or above.

its a typo, but I guess also a bug. I successfully updated to 26.7 then was offered the 27 update, at the bottom of the screen. The pop up showed ‘Upgrade to 26.7’ but the file size was far too large for a minor. After clicking on, the upgrade to 27 went as expected and now all devices are on this

Confirmed. It took about 80 minutes, but it went through despite the label saying 26.7. I do now have iOS 27 and works fine. AS a precaution, just remember to back up your phone one more time before you install any new iOS as practice. Good luck fellow Apple users!

I chose "Upgrade to iOS 27" and it showed the 26.7 update instead (which I had already installed) and after selecting that, it appeared to be downloading 26.7 again, but after the verification process part of the typical upgrade, I eventually got a prompt to upgrade to iOS 27. It did not "re-install" iOS 26.7, it went straight to iOS 27.

Very confusing process and I hope Apple smooths it out, but it did result in an iOS 27 upgrade.

I tried to flag it up to Apple Support, but they weren't interested. Just said they'd add it to the notes of my case. Aked them to escalte and they ignored that. Flagged this thread too.

For me :

Apple supports only path was for me to take the phone to a store tomorrow.

So.. I kept trying..

Via new PC (win11+Apple Devices) - brand new PC, Apple Devices only installed today . I ran a backup here earlier - my upgrade wouldn't get past a fraction of the completion bar. Tried muliple times as an upgrade and as a New setup. After 3 times the iphone will no longer allow an update. Restore as new only, still fails.

Via old PC (win10+itunes) - itunes insisted on upgrading itunes. I expected it to insist on Apple Devices, but it didn't. I took the .ipsw file from the new pc, shift+restore on the old PC and low - it worked. Now trying the data restore via the new PC.

I selected upgrade to iOS 27, the screen said it was updating to 26.7, but then when everything restarted, it was actually iOS 27. =)

Restore via the old PC worked. I wish I'd ignored Apple Support's advice to use the PC (at least on day 1). Why the old PC with iTunes worked.. but the new PC with Apple Devices didn't work I can't explain.. I'm suspecting that Apple servers in the backend were overloaded - but that doesn't then explain why the process worked on one and not the other.

Of course doing a Restore means I had to re-setup face ID, Apple Wallet etc.. but much better than travelling an hour to an Apple store just to restore it there..

Got to say I'm a bit annoyed that new Siri AI is still behind a sign-up process... so despite now being promised that in iOS26 on iPhone 16.. here we are on iOS27 and still can't get it (in the UK).

I had to connect the iPhone to a Mac and then update it to iOS 27. Hope this helps! Hopefully Apple fixes this glitch I have reported the bug.

It seems to do the upgrade all in one sweep. Even though the iPhone 14 Pro said it was installing 26.7 (despite choosing iOS 27 directly), the phone came back up as saying iOS 27 was installed.
