iPad software keyboard appears with Magic Keyboard attached on iPadOS 27

iPadOS 27, software keyboard appears with Magic Keyboard attached.

I’m able to type just fine on the Magic Keyboard, it’s how I’m writing up this message. However, the software keyboard seems to appear when I click into most text fields. It also appears when CMD + Tabbing to other apps (inconsistently). I have checked and wiped off the Smart Connector, so I don’t believe it’s a connection problem. This behavior was not present with the iPadOS Public Beta. Assistive Touch is off.

Any ideas? Going out of my mind closing this software keyboard over and over! Thanks team!

Whew! I got it!

Went into Settings and found “Reset Keyboard Dictionary”— this is not something I would have expected to work, nor was it an option that I would have forgotten my WiFi network history, or switched my Appearance back to Light mode…. But here we are.

Now clicking into text boxes does NOT cause the software keyboard to pop up. I did submit an entry to the Apple Feedback app. I should follow up with this information. All is good now, I hope if anyone else runs into this problem that they’re able to solve it in the same way. Whew!

Please try a forced restart. a forced restart resolves many screen issues.

Thanks for your quick response! Unfortunately this doesn’t seem to resolve the issue. Have rebooted several times.
