I need a replacement for what was once known as iPhoto Books

The last time I created a bound book it was back in the iPhoto days: Welcome to iPhoto Books. I made several of them. It was easy.

macOS - Print Products - Apple encouragingly states "It’s easy to make high-quality photo books, cards, calendars, framed prints, and more right within Photos for macOS." Great! Unfortunately it links to iOS products. So does the next encouragingly helpful link Learn more about Photos for macOS. It too takes me to View photos and videos on iPhone - Apple Support

😖

So far Apple has led me down a rabbit hole that goes nowhere near a book. Bottom line is I want to create a quality bound photo "coffee table" book from the pictures in my Photos library.

Where do I begin?

MacBook Air (M5, 2026)

John, have you checked the AppStore on your Mac for Project Extensions?

It will depend on the country you are in, which extensions will be available. Perhaps Mimeo Photos will be available in your region. To find project extensions on the Mac, open Photos, then use "File > Create > Books > App Store". This will show you apps that install project extensions for photo books, so you will find them in the File > Create > Books menu.

Try to find a provider in your country to avoid long distance shipping costs and a long delivery time.

In Germany I am using Cewe Photo books for books and calendars.

John:

FYI: if Mineo Photo is available to you be aware that they were a subcontractor for photo books to Apple when Apple was in the Photo Book business.

I've used Mimeo Photo a couple of times recently, and after the book was completed I printed it out as a PDF file. I then, as my user tip that léonie provided pointed out, went to the Mimeo web site and ordered a book directly. It came back as an Apple book except for the Mimeo logo on the back cover.

Just some food for thought.
