Please download and run EtreCheck (the free version, don’t need the paid version here), and use the Share to share the results to the Mac clipboard. Then open a new reply here, and press the Additional Text button (the button that looks like a printed page), and paste and post the hardware and software configuration report here. From that, we can get a little more detail about what is installed and what is running here.

Safari 27.0, released on September 14, 2026, is the latest version of Safari for Sequoia. Previously, Safari 26.6, released on July 27, 2026, held that position.

Safari Release Notes | Apple Developer Documentation

Safari 27.* is available

  • For iPhones running iOS 27.*.
  • For iPads running iPadOS 27.*.
  • For Macs running macOS 27.* (Golden Gate), or either of the previous two major versions – macOS 26.* (Tahoe) and macOS 15.* (Sequoia)

this sounds like an ad / spam?

A recommendation for Etrecheck is neither an ad nor spam. The software is free. It provides information that's designed to help with troubleshooting while not exposing any personal data. It saves a lot of time as people don't have to keep asking questions. You are certainly free to support the developer by buying the paid version but you don't need to.

I have reinstalled multiple times with loss of settings and documents and without , and okay it works good. ,till the update safari 27 appears and I installed it. again nothing. as long I not install the update no problem. what have they done with your Mac different. You chatted with apple support the whole time? it takes hours to reinstall. how did you do it

Support stopped the chat when I was beginning the download of the OS, let me finish it on my own. Gave me a case reference number. This morning I realize Safari is running fine because I'm back to version 18.6! The system is offering version 27 update and I won't install it. Will have to contact Apple again and follow up, but at least this version seems to work with new OS.
