Update to MacOS 27.0 breaks Streaming / BBC iPlayer / YouTube playback.

Hi,

I have a M1 Mac Mini, 16G, 500G in UK. Just updated to MacOS 27.0 last night. Now I cannot get any videos to play. This includes streaming, BBC iPlayer and YouTube. I have tried Safari, Firefox and Brave browsers. In Firefox the video eventually plays but there is no sound. I emptied caches on Safari but it did not change anything. Everything worked fine before updating to 27.0 so it must be this that is causing the problem.

Has anyone else seen this? Have a fix?

Hi WheelieNick,

That worked. Thank you :-)

I needed a restart as well but everything plays as before now. Hope they fix this soon, my built in speaker is a bit tinny.

Yes. I cannot believe this did not come up in beta testing. So either they cannot fix it or they wanted to get it out there and just let it through.

I have same system, but with the M2 and having the same issue. My audio is already going through the Mac mini speakers.

This worked for me. I had to leave it on 16 bit for my HDMI connection. I'll have to see if it continues to work over the next few days.

I didn't realise there was a 27.2 release my Mac Mini says I am up to date on 27.0.1. What happened to 27.1?

My audio is working now through display port so I'm leaving it be for a while.

27.0.1 is the current general release. 27.2 is the latest Public Beta release.

Same issue on my MacBook Pro. OS 27 broke it. 27.0.1 did not fix it.

My bad, replaced DP lead with a new ‘faulty’ lead in early attempted to fix the fault and created my new standby backlight fault, old lead replaced all well. However original fault still not fixed
