Reverting to an older major version of macOS is not simple. You need to boot into Recovery OS, erase your internal drive, then install the older macOS, then restore from a backup made prior to the recently applied upgrade*. Even then, the firmware on the Mac may have been updated, meaning potential conflicts and a possible need for DFU mode and a Configurator revive/restore, which would need to be done via another Mac connected to yours. If that sounds complicated and risky, then you're assessing the situation correctly. Also note that in no case can you install a version of macOS that is earlier than the version installed on your Mac when it came out of the box.
*Regarding the backup, if you want to pick up where you left off on the old version, you really need a backup made before the upgrade. If you do not have such a backup (why not?), then there are alternatives but you must be prepared to accept some work to get back to your normal. If you're in that situation, here are some strategies (and caveats):
Anyway, GG has huge lag in opening programs, and the imperative 'click and select multiple files' in finder has been deprogrammed by some 'genius' who thinks they know better than we do what we want.
I have neither of those problems on two Macs. They weren’t laggy even on the first beta releases. I haven’t noticed any difference at all in selecting files.
There were a few posts about dragging files in List view. Something about the icon vs name label. Whichever one you now have to click I always did before so I didn’t see any difference in os behavior.
If the problem you have selecting files is not that List view difference, you might want to look at third-party system modifications, especially mouse drivers.
With Icon View and List View still functioning properly, it means Apple intentionally removed the ability to drag & select multiple files in Detail View - the view I've used for nearly 3 decades because it shows what's in the folder. With List View you can't see what's in the folder until you click on it. Many people are complaining about this. It's inefficient, and makes the use of both hands mandatory. It's a major step backwards for the Finder.
I'd love to hear Apple explain this one. And I don't mean an Apple chat associate, I mean an actual Apple employee who makes these kinds of decisions.
Thanks for the reply.

Nearly 3 decades using something you don’t know the name of, it seems. ‘Detail View’ isn’t a thing, at least not on macOS. Do you mean Column View?
See this: Change how folders are displayed in the Finder on Mac - Apple Support

Note that this is Apple Support Communities, not Apple Support. “We” are users like you and have no power to implement any suggestions. Apple employees are generally precluded from even reading these forums, with the exception of moderators who only monitor for compliance with the T&C.
To have Apple consider your feedback, submit it here:
Yes, I mean column view. I call it detail because it's the view that shows all the details - I named it wrong, my bad. List and Icon do not show details, not like column anyway, nor are they convenient. You must double-click folders to open, but when you do all other folders are gone. You then have to go out of the folder you're in and choose another folder. With Column view, ONE-HANDED-OPERATION, I can still see my folders and can click-drag select, then move to a different folder, while writing, eating, drinking, etc... That's not possible with Icon or List. And just as important if not more than the Fence thing, in Column View we also get a preview of the file. We don't get that in List View, we get it sometimes in Icon View, but often Icon View shows the program name that opens the file instead of a preview - depends on the format of the file. It always shows in Column View. Also, sometimes GIF's don't work at all with Macs, but Column View will still show them - not Icon or List. This is a big deal.
All that said, Apple still makes the best, most durable computers I know of, and the Apple OS is also the best I know of - hence, why I'm still an Apple user. Dropping ppc from OS's? Single biggest 'screw users' they ever pulled. Just one year earlier they declared with absolute, 100% guarantee "we will never drop support for ppc", very next release, ppc support dropped; 06' abouts I think Leopard had it, but Snow Leopard didn't. I got over it, obviously, as I'm still an Apple user (for the record, I'd use a Nokia flip phone before I'd use an iPhone), but it doesn't mean I like THEM, it means I like their computers.
Do you not question anything? Such as, why would they deprogram a basic, general Finder function that's been in every OS for nearly 30 years? I'm not one of the people who just lays down and agrees with every single thing they do, especially when it affects production and efficiency. As to GG, it seems good enough, but no faster than Sequoia on a 2019 MBP.
Still debating on returning my new MBP Monday as my 2019 running Sequoia works just fine - I just wanted a new computer. And btw, if the Finder's Column View wasn't ruined we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
Another btw, I just sold my 2002 [I think] PB G4 a couple years ago - it was in excellent condition and it still worked fine, just slow, but I could still run a few programs that don't exist anymore.
Thanks for the reply, and link.

It's probably a bug, and I've reported plenty of those over the years. Personally, I use List View so this doesn't affect me. There was a bug (in Tahoe, IIRC) where dragging an item into a folder in list view failed if dropped on the folder icon, but worked if dropped on the folder name. That was annoying to me, though it didn't affect Column view. It was fixed in a point update.
Incidentally, you can still drag and select multiple files in Column view starting from the top or the bottom of the list (I found that when someone else reported this issue, you're not the first to notice it), it just doesn't work when on the side of the list, starting in the middle. That makes me think it's likely a bug.

Oddly, it does:
Yes, I mean column view. I call it detail because it's the view that shows all the details
There are no details in Column view.
Unless you Show Preview which you can do in every other view.
I still can't figure out what you are finding has been removed. I can select multiple files, drag them around, drop them in another folder. I tried looking through all of the posts and can't seem to find a clear description of the function you think has been removed.

I know what's in most of my files, yes. On the infrequent occasions that I do not, a Force Click or space bar press opens Quick Look.
As @Barney-15E points out, in any of the views including List View, there is the option to Show Previews.
That can be turned on for all folders, and it can be turned off for Column view.
I guess even after nearly three decades of doing something one way, you can learn there are other ways to do the same thing (and that the functional association you thought was 'baked in' to Column view is, in fact, not).
Maybe I'm not explaining the issue very well. I'll try one more time. Btw, the computer has already been returned though, so it's not a problem anymore - I'm simply showing you exactly what I'm talking about.
In Column View, I can click on a folder and see all the folders and files in that folder, BUT, I can also still see and access all folders from the folder I opened the selected folder from. I can click/drag anywhere at all inside of any folder... I can select 1 file/folder or 2+ files/folders with click-drag, and I can drag them without having to use 2 hands to anywhere I want. This is absolutely not possible with any other view.
But List View doesn't give you a preview of the file. You must know the name and contents of every single file in every single folder. How to know you have the right one/ones without opening them up?
