iPhone 18 Pro Max unexpectedly restarts with rst wdog in ResetCounter logs

I bought a new iPhone 18 Pro Max directly from Apple. It is running iOS 27.0.

On September 19, 2026, the iPhone restarted by itself twice. In both cases, the screen first went black, then the Apple logo appeared, and the phone started normally.

The times were:

- 10:10 AM

- 7:28 PM

I found two ResetCounter analytics logs. Both show:

- Reset count: 1

- Boot failure count: 0

- rst wdog

- reset_in_1

The first log also shows reset_in_1 timeout and dblclick_timeout. There are no panic-full logs so far.

Could this be an iOS 27 software issue, or does it suggest a hardware problem? Should I monitor it for a few days or contact Apple for diagnostics?

Apple permits a 14 day return period. Consult the return policy of the company you purchased your iPhone from.

You need to have Apple perform diagnostics on your iPhone. It can be done in person at an Apple Retail Store or at an Apple Authorized Service Provider. You can also contact Apple Support and request remote diagnostics.

Same. My wife’s glacier 256 18 Pro Max has restarted 10 times since launch day purchase.

I am having the exact same issue and might have to take my phone in. At first I was thinking maybe I was the one pressing the button, at some point the screen freezes or something as well…
