Siri is unable by voice control to add an item to the shopping list in reminders unless actually I am in the shopping list, in which case Siri recognises the shopping list and is able to add items but not able to do so otherwise. Just says having technical issue

So, I’ve had enough of this nonsense. I’ve gone into Screen Time, Content and privacy restrictions, Siri, and turned off Siri AI (beta), and ticked (toggled on) Classic…. And everything that used to work in reminders is now working again.

That isn’t how it’s supposed to work. Siri should be able to add an item to a named Reminders list without that list being open. Apple even gives “Add artichokes to my groceries list” as an example.
I’d check that your Shopping list is stored under iCloud in Reminders, then try the exact wording: “Add milk to my Shopping list.” Apple notes that some Reminders features aren’t available with lists from other accounts.
If it consistently works only while the Shopping list is open, even after restarting the iPhone, that sounds more like an iOS 27 Siri/Reminders issue than anything wrong with your list.
The request format you’ve given me is what I’ve used in previous iOS iterations and what I’ve been trying to use In iOS 27. Siri comes back and says she cannot find a shopping list, do I want to create it, when I say no Siri then tells me have added it to my reminders list! So for me definitely seems to be a problem with IOS 27. I had already tried re-starting.
In reminders i’ve changed the default list to shopping, and Siri still tells me that she can’t find my shopping list, but then goes and adds it to my shopping list, I guess because I’ve changed my default list But clearly, that’s not working as it should. otherwise, Siri, you wouldn’t be telling me still that she can’t find my shopping list but then adds it to a default list.
