You can't redeem or return Apple Gift Cards, App Store Gift Cards or unused Apple Account balance for cash, except as required by law. If your jurisdiction allows the refund of redeemed gift balances, you can contact Apple Support to request a refund. When you contact Apple, include the primary email address you use to sign in to your Apple Account.

Katana's link is spot on, but just for clarification, you can't test drive an app and then expect a refund, it's not the way it works.

Apps that offer testing periods will have a free trial and then a paid subscription,. you can cancel the free trial before you are charged for the paid subscription at any point before the free trial ends and it renews.

If you did not cancel on time, or the app is a paid for app withour a free trial, then there is no real direct refund process. You can request a refund, but it's at the sole discretion of Apple and in no way guaranteed to be granted when you do.

No, Katana's "Check Account Balance" link is the one you want if you are trying to get money out of your Apple Account. It has nothing to do with subscriptions or purchase refunds,. it's specifically to get money out your Apple Account balance as you explained.

Do note this is only possible as mentioned in countries where the law requires refunds for Apple Account balance.

You need to contact Apple Support directly for this.

Go to https://getsupport.apple.com , enter your issue in the search field and work through the prompts. At the end further down the page there should be a button labeled "Get More Support" Clicking on it should provide Chat and Call options if available for your specific issue.
