Siri AI keep saying 'I’m having trouble with the connection' on my MacBook Pro M4

My MacBook Pro M4 has all the right settings to use Apple's new Siri AI, and the software is fully installed. However, every time I try to use it, Siri keeps saying "I’m having trouble with the connection. Please try again later." The only prompts that worked were simple ones like "Hi or "What time is it".

  • Cleared my iCloud storage
  • Turned off and on Siri AI multiple times
  • Restarted my MacBook multiple times
  • Apple Account region is in Taiwan, which I believe is available
  • Has been accepted on the waitlist, and installed the new Siri AI
  • Language is set to English (United States)

I also saw this. It was working previously (quite well, actually . . .) but then I just got the "I’m having trouble with the connection. Please try again later" error. It persisted through a cold reboot. My date and time are correct.

Then, I connected to the internet via my phone, rather than via my eduroam network at work (at a university), and . . . it worked.

I thenn re-connected to my eduroam wifi, and it worked.

So, changing my network seemed to help. (?) Sorry if this observation ends up as a red herring . . . but here's hoping it helps.

Re: "Siri AI" "... every time I try to use it, Siri keeps saying "I’m having trouble with the connection. Please try again later."

See whether Apple support's article on connection trouble-shooting (link below) can help: See what to do: If you can't connect to the App Store, iTunes Store, or other Apple services - Apple Support

Eg: Amongst other tips: Article says:

4..."Check the date and time on your device

Apple's: Requirements for Siri AI (Beta) - Apple Support

Eg: says (amongst other things):

"Siri AI is not available in the EU on iOS, iPadOS, or watchOS. It is available in the EU on macOS 27 Golden Gate and visionOS 27 if your Apple Account region is in the EU and your device language and Siri language are both set to English.

Siri AI will not work in China mainland if your Apple Account region is in mainland China."

Same problem on multiple Macs -- a nearly new M5 MacBook Air with 24GB of RAM and an M1 iMac with 16 GB of RAM. Siri responds when triggered, so that much works. But after that, any question results in an "Uh oh, something's gone wrong." message.

I've been through all of the troubleshooting steps and nothing works. Meanwhile, Siri works fine on my iPhone 16 Pro. Seems like a fair number of other Mac owners are having this same problem. This is a terrible way to roll out the new marquee feature. Related: Apple Intelligence-powered Writing Tools don't work most of the time either.

You may want to double check Apple's requirements and settings:

It's the same exact issue on my Macbook Pro M4 as well.

I am situated in Canada, and have updated to the latest software, and have been invited to the Siri beta (otherwise i wouldn't have even had access to the Siri App)

Its so frustrating that I have completely given up on it until they fix their Siri App on a new version or an update. If anyone has found a solution, would be great to share with the rest of us.
