Siri returns 'Uh oh, something’s wrong' error on MacBook Air with M5 processor

Your report that Siri displays “Uh oh, something’s wrong. Please try again” and that Extend and Reframe in Photos do not function is useful information, although these symptoms alone do not establish their cause.

Apple states that Siri AI (Beta) is available on Macs with Apple silicon running macOS 27 or later. 

Your M5 MacBook Air therefore meets the stated processor requirement.

Open System Settings >> Siri and check exactly what options are displayed. 

If Try Siri AI (Beta) is available, complete the setup shown there. If Siri AI has already been enabled, check whether it has completed its download.

Also check System Settings >> General >> Language & Region and confirm that the device language and Siri language are the same supported language. 

If the Siri language was recently changed, Apple says Apple Intelligence may remain unavailable until the new language has finished downloading. (Apple Support)

Check System Settings >> General >> Storage as well. 

Apple states that Apple Intelligence requires additional storage for its on-device models, up to 14 GB on some newer Mac models and up to 8 GB on other supported Macs. (Apple Support)

Since you are running macOS 27.0, open System Settings >> General >> Software Update and check whether a later macOS 27 update is available.

Apple identifies Extend and Reframe as Apple Intelligence features in Photos on Mac. 

Their failure is therefore relevant to the diagnosis, although it does not establish that they have the same cause as the Siri problem. 

Apple also notes that some Apple Intelligence features use server-side models and may be subject to usage limits.

I would check these items before making further changes to Siri or Apple Intelligence.

 If all of them are correct, the next step should be to determine whether Apple Intelligence itself has completed setup and whether other Apple Intelligence features work, rather than continuing to reset Siri.

To fix what you are facing on the Siri, first of all, it will be helpful to know if you are running the new siri or the classic Siri. Try these steps:

1. Go to settings
2. Go to the Siri tab
3. Disable siri
4. Wait 1 min then turn back on

If this doesn't work, try this (the new Siri chatbot only):

1. Press command, option and escape
2. this shows force quit menu
3. force quit siri
4. restart your mac
5. open Siri while holding shift to stop corrupt data from launching
