I’d try resetting the Apple Account password outside of iTunes first. Go to iforgot.apple.com and follow the steps there. Apple recommends that route if you can’t reset the password or sign in normally.

If that still doesn’t work, what exact message do you get when you try to sign in or reset the password? For example, “account locked” or “Media & Purchases account disabled” would need a different fix.
