I have an update:
She informed me that at some point several years ago I logged in my information on her iPad and from that point forward that Apple ID that was with her iPad also had my Apple ID and it was recording and saving all of my information into her account, that’s how she claims she’s accessing it now. Is that even possible?
Yes – if you logged into your account on her iPad, it is entirely possible.
The main reasons that people use iCloud are
- To back up their iPhones and iPads
- To synchronize data between multiple Apple devices
My iPhone and Mac both are logged into my Apple Account, and have iCloud Photos enabled. So every photo I take on my iPhone gets sent to the main Photos library on my Mac. Every time that I do something in that main Photos library on the Mac (like editing a photo, or importing photos from a digital camera's memory card), that change gets sent back to the iPhone.
The underlying assumption is that
- An Apple Account belongs to a particular person
- That person may have several devices
- Sharing information between devices belonging to the same person is a convenience for that person
Now if there are two people sharing the use of the same account, the system doesn't magically know that. The system sees that it is dealing with one Apple Account, and thinks that it is dealing with one person. And then, if sharing everything with each other was not something those people wanted to do, there can be issues.
