Apple really should provide more information on their invoices for Apple Account purchases other than “apple.com/bill”, because they know what was purchased and where the money went. Not showing that information isn’t about privacy, it’s about obfuscation.

As mentioned you can log in to https://reportaproblem.apple.com for a full breakdown of any and all purchases that appear as "apple.com/bill" on your statement.

If it was a purchase made through Apple Pay, it would say exactly what it was for on your payment method's statement.

If it appears as "apple.com/bill" the it was not made through Apple Pay, but you can check what it was for by logging in to https://reportaproblem.apple.com

Apple Pay is a technology that provides a more secure and private means of using your credit and debit cards with merchants. Apple Pay is not something that bills you, charges you or refunds you.

Who is the merchant charging your account? What does your bank statement or credit statement say the merchant is? If it’s Apple please follow the links in Phil’s post. If it’s not Apple, please contact the merchant directly for a refund etc.

Actually you get both. When I make a purchase, on the Apple App Store, for example, I receive a receipt via email. The same transaction will also generate a credit card receipt which is very generic. It’s very similar to my credit card statement which also does not contain specific information about the transaction.
