Blue boxes and question marks appear in Apple Mail images after update

Blue boxes/question marks appear in Apple Mail.

I have twiddled the privacy settings in Mail, but still get BB/QM on most email.

Sometimes the images appear for maybe 3 or so seconds, then are replaced by BB/QM.

This since update to Golden Gate.

Any advice welcomed.
