Welcome and thank you for reaching out. šŸ¤—

A rapid battery drain after updating to iOS 27.0.1 can happen while the system reindexes and optimizes in the background, usually taking a day or two.

According to Apple: If you notice that your battery life has decreased after updating your device, wait a few days and then check again. Even though you can use your device immediately after an update, certain tasks related to the update continue in the background and might affect battery life and thermal performance. While they're ongoing, you might see the Insight Ongoing iOS Update in Settings āž¢ Battery.

Yes, I’m having the same issue. My battery health dropped 6%. and my iPhone 17 Pro Max does not make it through the day anymore. I updated it the day it came out, so indexing should be over by now

What are your Charge Cycles and Battery Health? That will tell you if your Battery Health is in the expected range for an average user. The Battery Health drop is not linear meaning some months will not drop at all and other months will drop more. To make sure you are not wasting your Charge Cycles, it is best to leave your phone plugged into power all night, every night.

As for what is draining your battery, you would need to post the Screenshot at Settings > Battery > View All Battery Usage that shows the 2 battery graphs and the top 6 apps consuming your battery.

Certainly Meta apps are usually top consumers of your battery if you have any installed. While their apps are free to use, their revenue is created by the harvesting of your data to build your Social Graph and sell that information to advertisers. Also most of them are being updated as much as 13 times every month and especially with a new OS update due to their use of non-standard text fields. The reason why they use the non-standard text fields is that they can use the data as you type to integrate with their Meta AI that uses much more processing power than Apple Intelligence or Siri Suggestions.

I am also encountering this issue on 14 pro. More than 3-4 days since I updated, battery health dropped 2%, and the drainage is crazy. Very annoying

3-4 days is the minimum you could expect for the background indexing to complete. It is best to leave your phone plugged into power and connected to WiFi all night, every night to ensure a quicker completion of those processes.

What is your Battery Health percentage? If it is below 80%, it will need replacing. It would not be unusual for an iPhone 14 to need a battery replacement by now, as it was only intended to last 500 charge cycles.

And finally you can post the screenshot at Settings > Battery > View All Battery Usage that shows both battery graphs and the top 6 apps consuming your battery. On the bottom of the screen, if it shows a significant amount of Other Battery Usages, post that as well. For example, if it shows Home and Lock Screen with high battery usage, that is an indication that the background processes have not completed.

Your iPad is seeing a large amount of background processes by the light gray bars in your daily battery graph. Choose yesterday on that graph and post what you see there for app usage. If on the bottom of the screen under Other Battery Usage you see Home & Lock Screen using a large amount, then that is usually due to the indexing being performed after the update and continues for about 5-7 days. Make sure you are connecting your iPad to power and WiFi all night, every night so those processes can complete quicker. When did you update?

If it has been longer than the 7 days after the update, then I would perform a Force Restart in case that process got stuck for some reason.

iPads Without a Home Button

  1. Press and quickly release the Volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the Volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the Top button. You have to hold this until the Apple logo appears and it could take up to 15 seconds for the to happen. Ignore anything else on the screen including the Slide to Power Off prompt.

iPads With a Home Button

  1. Press and hold both the Home button and the Top (or Side) button at the same time.
  2. Keep holding both buttons until the Apple logo appears on the screen, then release them

Also, if you have a VPN installed, try removing it, not just shutting it off. They will use additional power for every network connection and it won't be the VPN reporting the battery usage, it would be the app using the network.
