Resoclear Fraud App, Subscription trap, App not available but charges recurring.

Hi there,

have one issue with Resoclear app which is not available in app store.

I had purchased 0.99USD subscription via in App Apple Wallet Subscription for a week then after a week I was supposed to stop that subscription, when I investigated under iOS settings > user profile > subscriptions

I was unable to find active subscription for that app, so I have checked app and reported in app option to cancel that subscription, and waited for at least three days and there was no response.

After that, I had observed there was monthly subscription charges was occurred but fortunately there was low balance in my linked card so transaction was not successful, after that I had reported via report a problem via Apple subscriptions, and after 2 - 3 days I saw that app was disappeared from the App Store in particular Australian region

Afterwards, to make sure I have changed my physical bank card and removed old card to totally avoid this ResoClear App subscription charges. But on 8 October 2026 the transaction occurred., and there is no way to contact Apple or reverse the transaction or stop the subscription because the app is not available in App Store.

Upon asking bank, bank is asking for the details whether we have had contacted merchant to stop that transaction or not, and more other details from us, but there was no option to unsubscribe in the app. Also now the app is not available itself then also the charge has been taken from our linked back bank account.

Have you ever been trapped like this situation? What is the best way to overcome this issue?

Apple, we want your take on this.

A subscription is a legal contract between you and the app developer. When a subscription is started, the merchant is obligated to send payment according to the subscription payment schedule. Removing a card has no effect on the subscription and subsequent payments.

Please contact Apple Support and explain the issue and request their assistance with the subscription.

If you have a subscription you need to cancel it. A subscription is a legal contract between you and the app developer. Thanks Jeff,
I appreciate your response but what if there is no way to cancel the subscription? that was the point, payment was not reflected in the Apple Subscription List, it was working as malware and linked to Bank Card Token even after replacing cards it was deducting money from card via apple payment gateway and app was removed from the apple store (search yourself Resoclear in App Store) was not helpful.

Your Subscription is not listed in your Subscription list because you made that subscription with the developer directly according to the reference in your original post referring to an Apple Wallet Subscription. That does not mean the subscription is managed by Apple in any way, you are still using the card added to your Wallet for payment and sending the merchant a Token that your bank provided you to give them.

You were charged after replacing your card because your bank uses an Automatic Billing Updater service to transfer recurring charges. Nothing is being deducted through Apple's Payment Gateway. The only thing that a purchase made with your Wallet does is to securely give the merchant the token your bank gave you when you added the card to the Wallet, and so the merchant does not have your actual account number that may be exposed in a breach. Beyond that, the transaction is processed between the merchant, PNO(Visa, Mastercard, etc) and your bank, without any involvement by Apple.

The action you took is the correct one to dispute a fraudulent transaction with the bank of the issued card. What they failed to do the first time is to block those further charges and instead just issued you a new card. That results in all previous recurring transactions automatically moved to your new card.

If this is your first experience with Automatic Billing Updaters, you can find quite a bit of information about them on the web. Each PNO calls it something different, for example VISA calls it Visa Account Updater (VAU) and Mastercard simply uses the Mastercard Automatic Billing Updater (ABU). Here is the Visa description of that service that is intended to be a service for their customers to prevent a subscription from being called when a new card is issued, but as you saw it also has the unintended consequence of transferring those fraudulent subscription.

Thanks Jeff,

I know subscription is the legal contract between customer and the app developer, but when app bypass the Apple Terms and Conditions and behave like taking one time permission for the granted then what about customer's money.

If app is bypassing the Apple Subscription Mechanism then that app must have in App Account Mechanism to have option for Cancelling Subscription, and it was not there.

Moreover, email provided by the developer is not reachable and I was trying since 15th September 2026, until date 21st October I haven't received any of the response. I have already sent them multiple formal cancel subscription emails.

Fortunately, bank has taken steps.

Thanks.

Apple won't help if subscriptions aren't in your current Active subscription list. When payment is taken from App via Apple Pay which is In App Apple Pay Purchases are made between Merchant and Customer, Apple is not involved, but if app is legitimate and follows ethics then it should have In App Account Subscription Management, which was not in that app.

Also, it had unresponsive email id when 4 formal emails were not answered till this date and App already removed from the App Store.

If the subscription does not appear in your Apple Account or at reports problem.apple.com then you either subscribe directly with the merchant, bypassing Apple’s ability to help to cancel the subscription and/or obtain a refund.

The other possibility is your credit card account is compromised and a scammer used your credit card information to obtain the subscription.

It would be extremely helpful in resolving this issue for others, to know if you used Apple Pay to start the subscription or you entered your credit card details as payment information? Secondly, Visa and Mastercard handle the Automatic Billing Updater service differently when tokenization (Apple Pay) is involved. Did you use a Mastercard or Visa account to start the subscription?
