Apple Watch Tide app default location is incorrect

Apple watch tide app. I want to change the default location to something that is relevant to me. The lists of default locations shown in the configuration in the watch app on the phone are in different country and are different to the one my watch shows.

In Apple’s built-in Tides app, you can manage locations directly on the watch. The location list in the iPhone Watch app may not reflect the same options.

  1. Open Tides on your Apple Watch.
  2. Tap the list icon, then +.
  3. Search for your preferred beach or coastal location and add it.
  4. If needed, swipe left on irrelevant locations to remove them.

If you’re using a Tides complication on your watch face, check the app’s settings for a location-selection option.

More info: Use Tides on Apple Watch.

i have now figured out what is going on. I was getting an entry "minty's steps" which was always the default and i could not remove it (by swiping left). It turns out that that is the name of an enclosed sea bathing area in downtown Auckland where i live. I have never heard the name even though I was well aware of its existence of the facility. A far more useful name would be "Viaduct Harbour" which is what the area is know as.

I couldn't delete it because it was the "current location ". There is a odd symbol on top right corner that presumably designates current location. In the documentation there is no explanation of what the various parts of the display mean. I guess it is supposed to be obvious.
