How to resolve 'Error in installing WatchOS 26.2' on Apple Watch Ultra?

I noticed last weekend that my Apple Watch Ultra was not showing notifications so I tried to un pair my watch and then re-pair it. When I tried to re-pair, it tried to install WatchOS 26.2. When it tried, I got an error message saying there was an error in installing the update. As of now, my watch is useless because if I turn it on, it asks me to pair, but then I get the same error. Please help.

There is no rational reason to downgrade your watch, and attempts will fail as you found. If your iPhone is trying to install WatchOS 26 it might be the iPhone is still on an old software. Check the software version in your iPhone, and update to iOS 27 (latest available) if the phone is showing an older version.
