I have a problem inside a Pages document with characters outside the margin. They are from a document I converted from PDF to MS Word and then read into Pages. They are slashes as you can see from the attached image. I cannot select them or see any way to get rid of them. Is there anything I can do to delete them?
Mac mini, macOS 27.0
If you cannot select those slashes in Pages, it may be detritus from the PDF to Word conversion and not in the Pages body text.
Do these slashes exist in the Word document where perhaps you can remove them prior to opening the Word document in Pages and translating to a Pages document?
I suggest you download and install the free LibreOffice. It is a Microsoft Office clone and can open that Word document directly without the conversion process that Pages performs. See if the margin artifacts are present and can be removed.
They are not in the original PDF. I don't have MS Word, so I cannot say if they are in the converted copy. I really don't want to buy MS Word!
