Change Apple ID and iCloud email address after name change

Hi -

I want to change my apple id and icloud email address. I have a new name and I'd like to not have to see the old name when I login everytime. Is there a way to do that without starting a whole new address?

Oldname@icloud.com to newname@icloud.com

I changed my primary email to a different gmail, but on my settings app, I still see oldname@icloud.com as my appleid.
