Adding text to Photos has disappeared since iPhone update

Ever since the recent update, there’s no option to add text in Photos. When I tap on edit, then mark up, then turn my phone to landscape, so I can see everything, then tap the +, adding text is not an option at all….

Does anybody else have this issue or know how to fix it?

Thank you to both of you! Sure enough, display was set too soon. When I took it off of Zoom, all of the options came back under markup! Thank you, thank you thank you! It’s been on zoom for as long as I can remember. Years. But taking it off zoom fixed the problem!😀

This is what I see in iOS 27.0.1 on a 16 when I hold the phone vertically:

As Mac Jim ID showed, this is what I see when I hold it horizontally:

As you can see, I get the Add Text choice, but in fact I can't scroll the menu. I'm not sure why you only get 4 choices (perhaps you have larger text size,) but the problem is the lack of scrolling.

It sure seems like you're zoomed in, doesn't it? That would explain your getting only two choices. Do you have all the accessibility options turned off?

Also, Settings>Appearance has some text size settings and "Display Zoom"

Have you tried a forced restart?

This is different from a simple Power Off. For me, the logo appears  5 or 10 seconds past the "slide to power off" message. Wait for the logo; don't do the slide thing.

My inability to scroll through the menu is weird

If this is a problem for both of us, we should report it here:

Add the Text when viewing vertically and then you can edit, move, or change the properties of the text in Horizontal.

You are limited in the viewable options for adding anything when in horizontal due to the limited height. For example even in my screenshot, only 4 options are shown when there are actually 6 possibilities for what can be added.

The pixel dimensions of my iPhone 17e are actually smaller than your iPhone 15 (2532 × 1170 compared to 2556 × 1179). The text size and zoom factor in Accessibility settings will have an effect on what will fit on the screen.

Have you tried the forced re-start?

Since neither Mac Jim ID nor I see this problem, it's probably not the OS. If you have some crazy gaming apps, or if you have a VPN or "Virus catcher" apps or "Cleaner" apps, those can interfere with the operation of the phone.

The inability to scroll is a real problem. I send feedback to Apple at this site:

I don’t have any new apps at all. This happened right after the update. I was going to attach a video so both of you could see exactly what’s going on, but now my phone is not even allowing that. I may go to the Apple Store and see if they think there’s a virus. It’s just so odd because these are things I do on a daily basis. None of it is new to me. I’m also going to try resetting everything. Thank you for that idea! It will be great if it’s just that easy.
