GPS Location failing using SatNav/Maps

Hello, I have a 17 Pro Max. The last 2 months or so I have had nothing but problems with GPS location when using Google maps, Apple Maps, Waze no matter the app my phone doesn’t have a clue where I am, the arrow either doesn’t move or it jumps around erratically . The odd occasion it will sort itself out after 20 minutes but my phone is used as a satnav 50% of the time and it’s doing my head in. I’ve reset the location settings, disabled all vpn, resetting my phone, deleting and redownloading the app. Nothing permanently fixes. Am I alone with this issue?

For Apple Maps to accurately determine and display your current location, ensure that the following settings are enabled on your iPhone:

1. Enable Location Services: Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services and turn on Location Services.

2. Allow access to wired accessories: Under Settings → Privacy & Security, enable Wired Accessories if this option is available on your iPhone. This setting is relevant to accessory connectivity and is not generally required for GPS location tracking itself.

3. Configure location access for Maps: Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Maps and select While Using the App. Also, enable Precise Location so Maps can determine your location more accurately.

4. Enable Preferred Routes and Predicted Destinations: Go to Settings → Apps → Maps → Location (or the corresponding Maps settings on your iOS version) and enable Preferred Routes & Predicted Destinations, if available. This helps Maps learn your commonly used routes and anticipate destinations based on your usage. It is not a prerequisite for displaying your current location.

5. Set the time zone automatically: Go to Settings → General → Date & Time and enable Set Automatically. An incorrect date, time, or time zone can cause issues with certain location-dependent services, although it is not normally the cause of GPS positioning problems.

The same basic Location Services and Precise Location requirements apply to Google Maps. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Google Maps, select While Using the App (or Always, if needed and available), and enable Precise Location. Google Maps does not have Apple's specific Preferred Routes & Predicted Destinations setting; it handles route recommendations and destination predictions through its own features and settings.

If your current location still does not appear correctly, check that you have an unobstructed view of the sky when testing GPS outdoors, and verify that the issue is not caused by a temporary network. Down Detector - outages
