Since other DVDs play normally using your Apple USB SuperDrive, the drive itself is probably functioning correctly. The issue may be specific to this DVD, although we can't yet rule out a compatibility or playback problem.

I suggest trying the following:

  1. Inspect the affected DVD for fingerprints, smudges, or scratches. If necessary, gently clean it with a soft, lint-free cloth, wiping from the center outward.
  2. Try playing the DVD on another computer or standalone DVD player. This should help determine whether the problem is specific to the disc.
  3. If you're using Apple's DVD Player app, quit and reopen it, then try playing the DVD again.
  4. If possible, try playing the affected DVD using VLC Media Player to see whether the green flashing occurs there as well.

If the DVD plays correctly on another device or in VLC, the problem may be related to how Apple's DVD Player handles that particular disc.

Could you let us know whether this is a commercially produced DVD or one that was recorded or burned yourself? Also, are you using Apple's DVD Player app or another application to play it?
