Missing 'open scanner' option for Epson WF 3540 on Mac

Bought 2 Mac 26.6.2 PCs. On one I can print and scan with no problem on my Epson WF 3540 printer, but on the other, the “open scanner” option is missing.

How do I fix this issue?

Thanks

MacBook Air 15″, macOS 26.6

Epson says that device is past "end of support" and they do not provide updated drivers, etc. for it.

I suspect there are some differences (however small) between your two Macs that enables one to print and scan but not on the other. It might have to do with when the drivers were installed or possible interactions with other installed items.

When "past end of support" happens, often scanning becomes problematic, although you might be able to continue to print. Have you tried scanning using Apple's Image Capture app? I used it with my 2010 Canon printer/scanner until that device finally stopped working.

There is a program called VueScan that is designed for obsolete scanners. It has drivers for your scanner. You might look into that. VueSCan is not free so you might weigh that against the cost of a new printer/scanner.

Not enough info there.

Pls. identify the exact model of each Mac and the exact version of macOS on each. (btw, they are not 'PC's)

Did you install the exact same Epson driver(s) on both Macs? Are you using any scanning app (if so, what is it & what version is it)? How is the Epson WF 3540 connected to each Mac?

Where are you seeing the "open scanner" option?
