How to remove floating keyboard from iPad Air screen

I have a 11 iPad Air with Magic Keyboard. How do you remove the floating keyboard off the screen?

As I said, if the iPad is connected to a physical keyboard, the onscreen keyboard should not appear at all. The Os hides it automatically as long as it detects a physical keyboard is connected.

If it keeps showing up, it suggests there may be an issue with the physical keyboard connection such that the iPad does not know it's there and brings up the onscreen keyboard.

Try removing the iPad from the keyboard, clean the contacts with some alcohol on both the iPad and the keyboard then restarting the iPad, then trying again and see if the onscreen keyboard stops popping up.
