Apple Watch Shortcuts complication does not run directly

Subject: Shortcut complication should run the shortcut directly

I set a Shortcuts complication on my watch face to run one specific shortcut ("Run Shortcut," then my shortcut). When I tap it, the Watch opens the Shortcuts list instead of running it, so I need a second tap. When the shortcut finishes, it returns to the Shortcuts list instead of my watch face.

Expected: one tap on the complication runs the chosen shortcut immediately, then returns to the watch face.

Related: my shortcut's Dictate Text action is set to stop listening "On Tap," but when I run it with Siri, Siri ignores that and uses its own timeout, which cuts off longer entries.

I use this for quick hands-busy event logging, and on a non-Ultra Watch there's no Action button, so the complication is the only one-touch trigger. Please make it run the shortcut directly.

Hi there

Please try this

  • Smart Stack: Add your shortcut to the Apple Watch Smart Stach. Swipe up from the watch face and tap the shortcut card.
  • AssistiveTouch / Double-Tap Gesture: If your Apple Watch model supports watchOS double-tap gestures (index-and-thumb pinch), you can configure accessibility gestures to trigger actions faster without navigating menus.
  • Siri Voice Command: Invoke the shortcut by name directly via Siri ("Hey Siri, [Shortcut Name]"), though it will still be subject to Siri's dictation timeout rules.
