iPhone 14 Pro display has color tints at specific brightness levels

Hi Everyone,

I'm noticing greenish and pinkish/reddish tints on my iPhone 14 Pro display when the brightness changes.

Here is what happens:

  • The tint appears mainly between 0% and 10% brightness, and also at exactly 50% brightness.
  • Each colour appears at its own specific brightness level, and the same colour appears at the same point every time.
  • I notice this both when manually moving the brightness slider slowly and when Auto-Brightness adjusts the screen.
  • It is most noticeable on grey and dark-coloured backgrounds, where the entire grey area changes colour evenly.
  • If I stop the brightness slider at one of these points, the tint remains faintly visible. It disappears when I move past that level.

I've attached two pictures of my iPhone 14 Pro to show what I'm experiencing. The first shows a plain grey image opened full-screen in the Photos app. The second shows the brightness slider and the area where the tint is noticeable.

Please view these pictures on your phone and increase your screen brightness. This should make the colour shift in my pictures much easier to see and help you understand exactly what issue I'm experiencing.

Has anyone experienced the same issue? Is this normal OLED behaviour, or could it be a problem with the display panel?

I'd appreciate any help or similar experiences. Thank you!

Display

Parts and service history

With iPhone 11 models and later, excluding iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation), using iOS 15.2 and later, you can go to Settings > General > About for the parts and service history of your iPhone. You can also find out if the display has been replaced. If the repair was done using genuine Apple parts and processes, "Genuine Apple Part" will appear next to Display.

  • An Unknown Part  message will appear if the display installation is incomplete or if the display:
  • Was replaced with a nongenuine display
  • Was already used or installed in another iPhone
  • Isn't functioning as expected

An additional message might appear that says "Apple has updated the device information for this iPhone." This means that Apple has updated the device information maintained for this iPhone for service needs, safety analysis, and to improve future products.

These messages don't affect your ability to use your iPhone.

Thanks for the information. I've already checked my iPhone 14 Pro, but there is no Parts and Service History section showing under Settings > General > About. As far as I know, the display has never been replaced. I'm mainly trying to understand whether this specific greenish and pinkish tint during brightness changes is normal OLED behaviour or a possible display issue.
