Safari Web Content process for piradex.com causes persistent high CPU

Hi,

I need help with a persistent Safari issue. Safari automatically creates a paradox.com Web Content process that can consume 50–80%+ CPU, causing significant battery drain.

I have already tried clearing all Safari data/history/cache, disabling extensions/background applications, Private Browsing, a different internet connection and a new macOS user account. The process still reappears.

When Safari is completely closed, piradex.com disappears and CPU usage returns to normal.

Could you please advise how to identify and permanently remove whatever is causing Safari/WebKit to connect to piradex.com?

I would also like to know whether the appropriate next step is a macOS reinstall or a full erase and clean installation.

I can provide Activity Monitor screenshots if needed.

Thank you,

Simas

Welcome!

First, is this about Safari on the iPhone 15 in your equipment line, or a Mac computer? If the latter, please tell us what model, its sub-model, and the macOS version it is running, all from "About this Mac." That will help us better help you here where we, other end users, can neither see nor remotely acces your devices.

You observed:

When Safari is completely closed, piradex.com disappears and CPU usage returns to normal.

Another similar check may be enlightening:

Does quitting piradex.com but leaving Safari open also return CPU usage to normal?

I am seeing more and more sites that demand much of system resources. I just opened the Amazon home page in Safari 27.2 and immediately it was using 20-22% of my CPU:

That is on an M4 Pro MacBook Pro with 24GB RAM running macOS 27.2.

WhenI took that screenshot, I had twelve Apple.com forum tabs open in Safari and they do not even register in AM.

Other than telling piradex to kiss it, here are some things to check:

— are you running any anti-virus, "cleaning" apps, or client-side ("coffee shop') VPNs?

— are you running ad blockers.

— what Safari extensions are you running, if any?

PS: For security reasons, please do NOT post your device's serial number. Thanks!

Cheers!

Allan
