Get iTunes 9.2.1 dmg when trying to download iTunes 10

For some reason when I click on the link to get iTunes 10 I get the 9.2.1 download instead. Is there some reason I'm getting directed to the older version?

Mac Mini (intel), Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Apart from this being completely embarrassing for Apple, I think there may be a three-fold issue here:

1) Apple needs to update 160 million accounts in order to prepare for a Ping-overload. Although its a tad late to start it, it might need to be done, hence Apple holding out v10.0

2) Apple are preparing for an onslaught of downloads from the Software Update server. As such, they might of suspended 10.0 downloads until they are ready to handle the bandwidth

3) Internal server errors on Apple's site have been plaguing various people I know all day (including me). Something tells me it might be possible there is an internal SSL Certificate issue, causing their servers to just degrade and not work. As such, their CDN network may be effected by the downloads.

I think the best thing to do is to wait until Apple get it all worked out, so 'It Just Works'*.

BUT...For the record it doesn't say Download iTunes 10 NOW. It says "Download iTunes" That's it.

BUT... The Graphic right above that Download iTunes NOW button says iTunes 10. So you could see how people could get confused right?

Quite honestly, if you want to complain, complain that you can't download ANY version of iTunes now.

You can still download 9.x. And doesn't complaining about people complaining make you a complainer too? If you don't have the patients to dill with the complainers then why add fuel to the fire and post anything?

Thanks for the link! I'm in the same time zone a cupertino and still was getting the 9.2.1 file when I clicked on the "download itunes 10" on apple's website. Also was told my software was up to date when I tried the "search for updates" file option within itunes.

Seems pretty cool but haven't really played with it much yet.

Also available now starting at the iTunes page. If you start at the download page, you'll get 9.2. Not yet available on Software Update. I guess that's tomorrow's project for the iTunes team. 😉

Note: I've tried this several times. Sometimes I get v 10, other times 9.2. I guess the iTunes team has more work to do than it realizes. 😟
