iTunes Ping.. No Facebook Connect link

Well not sure what the issue is. Maybe it's just the windows version of it.. But when looking for the Facebook connect button that should be appearing it isn't. The only way it's giving me to find people is through search or the recommendations. Even under the search box on the people page where it should say "You can also invite your friends from facebook or by email".. It just says 'by email'...

Only other thing I can think of it was maybe buggy as **** and they already released a new download/update with it removed for now? shrug Anyone else having this issue?

Same problem here (saw it last night, gone now. Using an iMac in the US if it matters.

Those articles aren't about Facebook connect which allows you to find friends of your from facebook also on Ping. Those are about full facebook and ping integration/co-operation. The itunes ping website even shows and mentions Facebook Connect as one of the ways for adding people to follow. Ah well i'm sure it will either be fixed or an explanation will come out sometime. I hope.. :P

ATTENTION

There is a difference between Facebook Sharing and Facebook Connect.

Facebook sharing is when you want to post something from one site/app to your Facebook account.

Facebook Connect is signing in to a site/app using your Facebook credentials. Signing in using Facebook Connect, in Ping's case, allows you to see which of your friends on Facebook are also using Ping.

Ping's interface for finding and adding friends is horrible. The Facebook Connect link appeared for me the first time I set up a Ping account, just under the 'search for friends' section. After searching for friends using Facebook Connect, the Facebook Connect button disappears and is no longer usable.

I have emailed support about this, but they haven't gotten back to me yet. I'll update this post when I hear back from them about why you can only use Facebook Connect to view friends once.

I even had it working last night, briefly. The feature was intentionally pulled, Apple told some news agency (aka "blog") that Facebook and Apple were still negotiating but that because Apple launched without explicit permission from Facebook, Facebook blocked their app and then Apple pulled the feature out of the iTunes XML pages shortly thereafter.

I have to agree I might use it if there was FB integration (because I already use FB) but absent that, Ping is not interesting to me.

lol. negotiating what? you just throw some code on your site or in your app to use facebook connect. the likely reason they pulled it is there was a bug with the communications between facebook's server and apples.
