iTunes 10 crashing after install

same problem here. The work around with the terminal helps - but ony every second time.

Wow. I've never really used these forums before but I was having such a hard time with my new version of iTunes 10 crashing before ever even opening I had to look. I read through and saw what Zed97 said about deleting the desktopvideoout component in Libraries and tried it. Worked right away! How that dude knew to delete that singular file is beyond me but thanks so much! Will anything be different with my quicktime now that I've deleted that file?

ya! Mine keep crashing upon opening after upgrading from itunes 9. I deleted the same desktopvideoout.component and it works! May I Know what this component is for and what does it affect without it?? Does it affect any of my quicktime playback?

I removed Flip4Mac component files from the MacHD/Library/QuickTime folder and it works fine. Technical support verified that this is an issue with Flip4Mac and iTunes10 compatibility. I will just have to use VLC for now and let Flip4Mac or iTunes come out with an update.

Im having the same issue; crashing at startup. No desktopvideo.component, Uninstalled flip4mac.
Funny thing had the same with 9. for iTunes as well. loads fine on other accounts on this mac, so I am posting my crash log for some input. I cannot read it as well so thanks for those that do.

Do you have any Bang & olufsen program installed? I think B&O Connect is not compatible with the latest iTunes, altough I don't know how to fix this problem.

UPDATE #2. All is well. I did in fact trash the desktopvideoout.component and iTunes 10 opened as it should. My fear was then I would not be able to use the desk top view "out" to display my monitor on my TV. No problems there either. As far as I'm concerned these Apple Discussions ROCK!

Sorry for the late reply, vie jus lived without iT's for the last week. But I'd like to sync to get 4.2 os.
I've had to migrate my account to another mac, reformat and migrate back, Thing are a lot smother, but still no go with itunes. It just bounces and then stops. Removed flip4 mac, no desktop video, no B & O, what else should I try. Works fine on a test account.

But what happens with thedesktopvideoout.component gone from the Quicktime folder?

I'm running OS 10.5.8 w/iTUnes 10 and every time I try to go to the iTunes store it crashes. If I'm playing my music it works fine, but as soon as I try to go to the store it crashes. I have cable internet so it's not a signal problem. Wiped the HD several times and reinstalled the OS to no avail. Did the same thing on 2 different HD's a 40GB and an 80GB drive. I have 3 other macs and they seem to run fine. Put the drive in another tower and it still crashes even on a fresh install w/o any music installed. It started before upgrading to 10 and now can't go back because it says you used a newer version when trying to sync iPod. Why only crashing on one HD ok 2 HD's put in 2 different computers? Both G4's one a Mirror Drive and the other a Sawtooth. I'm at wits end with this issue. Been working on it for a week now. Tired of reinstalling the OS. Even repaired permissions and disk. Still only crashes when going to the store. HELP!!!!

Beosound plug-in needs to be removed (until a compatible version emerges). Follow these steps: user >> Library > iTunes > Itunes Plug-ins > trash the beosound plug-in
NOTE you will never find this plug-in if you are accessing Library>iTunes through HD. Good luck

There are no plug-ins in that folder. I'm stumped on this one and why does iTunes still work on 3 other of my macs. You would think after zeroing out 2 different HD's and doing a fresh install it would fix the problem. Even putting the HD's in 2 different towers didn't solve the crash everytime I would go to the iTunes store. It works fine if you are listening to your music, only crashes when going to the store.
