How to identify Factory Unlocked iPhone 4 ?

You can go to Apples website to see where to buy. The Apple Store and the local provider are certainly authorized resellers.

You don't. This is the importance of buying from an authorized provider.

Also, the warranty is only good in the country of original purchase.

Peru offers unlocking from Claro and TM SAC.

Keep in mind that even if you do plan on buying a factory unlocked iphone, you have to have an address over there, say i fyou are in UK then you have to have an address there to buy it if you don't they won't ship it out and most likely they will cancel the order.

If you really want an unlocked iphone badly, then if you have a relative or friend that you know that lives in canada or UK or anywhere that sells factory unlocked then you can certain have it ordered and be sent it to their place and they can send it to you. Otherwise you'd have to go there yourself and buy one.

Odds are the retailers in your country are buying hacked phones rather than legitimately unlocked phones.

If you can't afford to buy from a legitimate source, don't come crying here when your hacked phone turns into a brick the first time you update it.

You can't tell unless you open the box, connect it to a computer with iTunes, and update to the latest version. If it still works with your SIM, it's OK. If you don't open the box, how will you know what you are getting. It may not even be an iPhone. Some fake iPhones ship in boxes identical to Apple iPhone boxes.

I doubt the seller is going to let you plug the phone in to iTunes, activate it and then change your mind when you do a restore and discover the phone is a hacked phone.
