iPad no longer accepts PayPal???

I purchased an app with my iPad two days ago. Today it says "PayPal is not supported on this device."

FWIW, that the only method of payment I'm going to use on the internet. Has Apple picked a fight with PayPal now that they've got one going with Adobe and Google?

Or is this just a new bug?

I have contacted Apple about this problem and they are "looking into it". I will let everyone know how this goes.

My problem extends not only to PayPal -- I cannot link any of my credit cards to my iTunes account anymore. My cards are in good order - I use them all the time, plus my wife setup her iTunes account with one of our shared cards, and that worked fine. go figure.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. No good.

I have tried setting up a completely new iTunes account. No good.

I don't have an iPad. But my iPhone can no longer make purchases with iTunes using PayPal as a payment method. Like most of you who have had a problem, it says that PayPal is "not supported". It has become a real hassle and I know that I could easily just switch to any of the iTunes alternatives. I don't want to do that. I mean I trust Apple with my information, but having tons of companies with my information makes it easier for it to be stolen. So, I really hope Apple is listening because this issue needs to be corrected. My suggestion to anyone who has this problem is, First talk to Apple and see if they can fix it. If they can't or they say there isn't a problem (when a problem cannot be solved, Apple usually should give a case number), then call PayPal. PayPal wouldn't want its customers to stop using its services. If PayPal starts getting enough phone calls, then maybe PayPal will call Apple and pressure them a little more to fix the problem. In any case, whoever its at fault will at the end find a solution if it looks like its worth the trouble. In any case, if you don't want to do any of this, then either buy elsewhere or just switch back to payment with iTunes's encryption system.

Ok, finally, this problem has been solved after Apple were "looking into it" for over two weeks. I asked what the problem was, and they said:

"This is an extra level of security feature Apple has introduced. However, the system seems to have sensed a genuine account access to be unauthorized and hence prevented purchases and changes to your account ... this issue was resolved by making certain changes to your account by my Supervisor after personally having verified and confirmed this not a case of unauthorized access."

For anyone experiencing this problem, it seems the only way to resolve it is to contact Apple. You may need to wait 2-3 weeks though for this to be resolved. You should save some money on app and iTunes purchases 🙂

Extra level of security so secure that you can no longer spend money with Apple - wtg Apple! The only thing I hate about Apple is their absolute refusal to admit mistakes (except the iP4 antenna-gate and even then they started with denial). I'm going to change my payment to CC and see what happens, but this is beyond stupid.

I was at the Apple store today for a business presentation and have had this same issue. We set up a 2nd dummy account and used my credit card that was declined and it worked perfectly. On top of this, my PayPal account says that it is a credit card that was declined. Now, I cannot post reviews in iTunes on apps I bought. My only way around this was to buy a gift certificate for now to buy my apps. This is insane and I have had a ticket in to Customer Service at iTunes for over 48 hours and I keep getting that they escalated my ticket and are waiting for a senior person to resolve my issue that apparently, they do not know how to fix. I am bummed and waiting. I am tasked to evaluate the iPad for a tool for my company with a potential initial rollout of 100 to 200 iPads and potentially much higher as this might make a great alternative tool for the clean rooms we use with no moving parts. I am shocked that there is no escalation for iTunes and it all appears to be related to my iPad. Bummer!!!

I am in the U.S., but have recently moved out from home to an apartment from SAn Diego to L.A., because I needed to continue my studies at a University. I already got a cable internet service with Time Warner. I can't purchase neither with Wi-Fi nor 3G. Not only that I can't purchase it with my computer's Wi-Fi either. I will try, if I get a chance, to purchase an app once I go back to revisit my home, but for now, I'm screwed.

I hear you, but I was able to resolve my issues after sending in the email to customer service. It appears that my account was hosed on the Apple side of iTunes. It took too long in my opinion and is not fast enough if we implement these in a much larger scale at my company. I cannot have my CIO or CEO yell at me because I am waiting almost 4 days for iTunes to get back in touch with me.

My iPad was having this same problem. Didn't try the iPhone.
I read this thread, then went to my desktop iTunes and tried to download the same application.
(I did this mainly because it was free today only). But when I tried to buy it, iTunes made me go to my billing page, a step not usually taken. I didn't change anything, although it forced me to add a salutation. Once I hit done, I was able to download the app in desktop iTunes. I then went back to the iPad and tried that same app again. This time it allowed me to purchase it and it actually loaded. It did not give me the "you've already purchased this app" message, probably because it was moments later. Anyway, seems to have resolved the problem for me.

Hi all,
I just tried doing what Michael Bennewitz mentioned, that is, downloading the Ipad app on Apple Store within iTunes.

After typing in my password, it took me to my Payment Method page, which was all OK and PayPal as the payment method, as has always been. Clicked OK and a red message at the top said that My Credit Card was declined.

I then logged into my Paypal account and checked to see if my credit card link to it was somehow expired, but everything was fine

It is very odd, as yesterday I successfully purchased a movie on my Apple TV, which is linked to with the same itunes login!!

Any ideas?

I can`t purchase anything either via my iPhone or iPad - Apple TV is FINE.
